Rare bookends of a cow, advertising Perfection Milker Co. Which is embossed on the backs.
The company was formed in 1926 and is still active; its process address is in Syracuse, NY and its jurisdiction is in Delaware. Unknown maker and unknown date of manufacture. These low-relief bookends are finished with an attractive copper-colored wash. Weighing nearly 6 pounds for the set, the bookends are made of either heavy brass or bronze, as a magnet does not stick.
One bookend weighs a few ounces more than the other. Dimensions: 4.75" tall, 6.5" wide, and 2.5 deep at the base. The bookends sit flat on their bases.
They are not quite flush when placed back to back; one of them appears to have a slight bend forward. The felts on the bottoms are probably not original; the bookends may well have been produced without any felts. The corner of one felt is loose.
The photos were taken under different lighting conditions. All photos should be considered a part of the description.
